SLOPPY JO COMES TO TOWN

Thats right the one and only Jo Mama, my mother, came to visit the town of KW. She decided to ditch the snowstorms and her work overload in Utah to come take a break with her favorite daughter in the beautiful weather of Florida. She arrived on Thursday night late after being delayed in Atlanta due to the stormy weather all over the nation. Sounds like she had some fun plane rides when she was lucky enough to be sat next to some lady who threw up the whole time from SLC to Atlanta flight which is a 5 hours nonstop flight and the other lady with a mask on her head that looked completely terrifying haha its always interesting to see who you end up next to on those airplane flights. She settled into our little apartment and we stayed up playing games and chatting till three she soon remembered how much of a night owl I am when we finally went to bed at 3 a.m. :)

Friday we started the day off by taking the shuttle downtown and catching the Conch Tour Train all around the island to learn of Key West's many historical and fun facts, it was very informative to say the least. Than we had a delicious brunch at the Rooftop Cafe. Went and got reready and went to Mallory Square for the sunset festivities. Mallory Square basically just has a ton of street performers for the sunset every night and they all specialize in interesting things like fire, flexibility, magic, etc. We got to check out some crazy woman squeezed into a box and Ali is in awe at her amazing ablity in one of the pictures below haha than there was this crazy 50 year old man doing all sorts of jumps and flips. He was rad...check out the video of him!

We than ventured over to the really crazy part of town to see the drag show. It was very very interesting and wow those guys are talented and really look like women it is freeaaaky, but we had so much fun and was a must do to gain the full key west experience.

Ending the night off with some food and dancing at this local joint called Bottlecap. Than Saturday was our water activity day we decided to go the sunset snorkel trip and since I'm local and have all the hook ups now it was completely free just had to tip the crew. We went out to the Gulf of Mexico and had our snorkling adventure except that there wasnt really anything to be seen and mom was terrified cause she doesnt know how to swim (but loves to snorkel oxy moron eh?). All in all we had a great time and when we got back from the boat we took our trip to the Ghost Tours and had a good time learning and capturing pics of the eery history of people/buildings in Old Town Key West. Before heading back we had some delicious chocolate dipped key lime on a stick it was the perfect ending of the day.

Sunday was another day packed with tons of activities. First we went to church, sacrament that is, than we went back downtown to tour the Pirate's Soul Museum and the Key West Aquarium. The Pirate's Soul Museum was neat, it had a lot of info on all the pirates and wreckage and genuine artifacts from the pirate's ships found near Key West. The Aquarium was fun we got to pet a shark and see all sorts of fish. It was a fun day to just play around down town and check out the sites and take lots of pictures while doing so haha. Than our regional manager of Del Sol came into town that day to take us all out to dinner and my mom was invited along so we went to Outback and the food there was scruptious and they even gave us some easter bunny chocolate from England wahoo score!
Monday our last full day together we slept in, laid out by the pool, and went downtown again. We went to the Butterfly Conservatory and the SMP-Southern Most Point "tourist Location" of the continental U.S. and made our way to one of my personal fav restaurants Caroline's Cafe. We shared the dinner so we would have room for the dessert "The Cookie Monster" oh my goodness to die for seriously. It was so good, everyone was starring at us when we got it...they were all way jealous I know haha. Than we went and got souvenirs for everyone back home in the SLC. Followed by some henna tattoos of compasses (that ended up not working stupid!) and went back to the casa.

Tuesday before my mom had to peace out back to the home city and I had to go into work we went to the beach and laid out and took a picture by the compass in my place. The reasoning behind that because we wear these twin compass necklaces all the time and it is to stay close to one another and a suiting farewell gift for me when I was leaving home.

Shout out to the madre: Thanks for everything you do Mom! You are amazing and I am so grateful that I am your daughter. You do so much for me and I loved spending so much time with you here in Key West. Be sure to take care of yourself and know you are always in my heart.

P.S. I get my humor from my mom see what I mean from below hahaha

hahaha she is tooo funny

Spring Break Cayo Hueso Style

The East Coast spring break brings a ton of college kids down to Key West including the one and only Charli Q my cousin and also been my bestie since we were babies in our mommies' tummies haha. It was so much fun and definitely crazy. We had lots of good times! I am so happy she decided to visit me for her spring break it makes me feel important haha it was probably more based on the fact that the weather here is 80 degrees and sunny verses freezing Utah though, but I will just go with my first statement anyways lol.

Let's see she arrived here late Saturday night and so we stayed up late talking than slept in Sunday morning as always and hung out at the apartment got tons of snacks and treats and than went and did a midnight run of 2 miles we are that amazing haha. Monday I worked in the day and some Coast Guard boys came in to ask if we wanted to play beach volleyball when we got off so I took Charli along and seriously she has game...really, we will show the family our sweet skills when we get back this summer :)

Tuesday I worked afternoon shift so she hung out with my roomies and went to the Butterfly Conservatory and Southernmost Point tourist location and when I got home we played card games like ol times. I have to thank my roommates for taking her around town when I was out I appreciated it lots thanks!

Wednesday went on a sunset cruise with the two of us and the rest of the girls it was beautiful. Than I took her to that Better Than Sex Desert place I mentioned earlier in the blog and once again it was fantastic! She got Jungle Fever and I had the Peanut Butter Perversion haha we also went shopping, we bought some sweet shirts perfect for 80s dancing and we put them on as soon as we got home and jammed out to the classics of the 80s and took loads of pictures.

Thursday got Chinese take out and played games and talked and just chill thats always the funnest times we have together is when we don't do much at all. Oh but check out our sweet matching braclets and tattoo, they are real...sike they are just henna but cool nonetheless.

Friday we rented an electric car and drove around town visiting the beaches and the real southernmost point and the famous cementary a little bit creepy haha. Oh and she put her feet in the Atlantic Ocean for the 1st time it was a kodak moment for sure.
Saturday I worked night but when I got home we decided to turn off all the lights and watch scary movies and that was way fun. She is my scary movie pal so it was nice to have her to watch them with someone again.
Sunday we slept I made her pancakes for breakfast they look delicious dont they haha that was the gimpy one but the rest resembled what pancakes look like haha oh and then we went on a way long walk by the beautiful ocean had a good talk and got some final sun in for her before she had to board Greyhound at 4:45 pm and off to the Miami Airport for her flight that wasn't until 7:45 am so she was there for so long--sorry Charli I still wish I could have waited it out with you :(
But all in all it was a blast to have her around again and I miss her so much now and being able to talk to her so it was bitter sweet but we laughed lots had some amazing food as always down here and Charli managed to get tanner than me in 3 days of laying out verses my 3 months of being here see what I mean brown girl...Brat!

Good news Charli is here in Key West safe and sound for all those she forgot to call...haha she states her apologies for that as well but you really cant blame her because she is just having too much fun with her bestest friend here in the 305 so don't give her a hard time. Its only Monday and we have lots of things to do so I will update you on all of our adventures but so far we have been having a chill time eating things up and going to play volleyball which i must say Charli is getting pretty good at but its kind of chilly down here actually so we are waiting for the sun to shine through so we can work on her tan before she leaves we haven't took any pics yet really but we will be sure to and i will post them on here just wanted you all to know how things are going so far if you were curious. Well back to Charli love ya'll
