SLOPPY JO COMES TO TOWN

Thats right the one and only Jo Mama, my mother, came to visit the town of KW. She decided to ditch the snowstorms and her work overload in Utah to come take a break with her favorite daughter in the beautiful weather of Florida. She arrived on Thursday night late after being delayed in Atlanta due to the stormy weather all over the nation. Sounds like she had some fun plane rides when she was lucky enough to be sat next to some lady who threw up the whole time from SLC to Atlanta flight which is a 5 hours nonstop flight and the other lady with a mask on her head that looked completely terrifying haha its always interesting to see who you end up next to on those airplane flights. She settled into our little apartment and we stayed up playing games and chatting till three she soon remembered how much of a night owl I am when we finally went to bed at 3 a.m. :)

Friday we started the day off by taking the shuttle downtown and catching the Conch Tour Train all around the island to learn of Key West's many historical and fun facts, it was very informative to say the least. Than we had a delicious brunch at the Rooftop Cafe. Went and got reready and went to Mallory Square for the sunset festivities. Mallory Square basically just has a ton of street performers for the sunset every night and they all specialize in interesting things like fire, flexibility, magic, etc. We got to check out some crazy woman squeezed into a box and Ali is in awe at her amazing ablity in one of the pictures below haha than there was this crazy 50 year old man doing all sorts of jumps and flips. He was rad...check out the video of him!

We than ventured over to the really crazy part of town to see the drag show. It was very very interesting and wow those guys are talented and really look like women it is freeaaaky, but we had so much fun and was a must do to gain the full key west experience.

Ending the night off with some food and dancing at this local joint called Bottlecap. Than Saturday was our water activity day we decided to go the sunset snorkel trip and since I'm local and have all the hook ups now it was completely free just had to tip the crew. We went out to the Gulf of Mexico and had our snorkling adventure except that there wasnt really anything to be seen and mom was terrified cause she doesnt know how to swim (but loves to snorkel oxy moron eh?). All in all we had a great time and when we got back from the boat we took our trip to the Ghost Tours and had a good time learning and capturing pics of the eery history of people/buildings in Old Town Key West. Before heading back we had some delicious chocolate dipped key lime on a stick it was the perfect ending of the day.

Sunday was another day packed with tons of activities. First we went to church, sacrament that is, than we went back downtown to tour the Pirate's Soul Museum and the Key West Aquarium. The Pirate's Soul Museum was neat, it had a lot of info on all the pirates and wreckage and genuine artifacts from the pirate's ships found near Key West. The Aquarium was fun we got to pet a shark and see all sorts of fish. It was a fun day to just play around down town and check out the sites and take lots of pictures while doing so haha. Than our regional manager of Del Sol came into town that day to take us all out to dinner and my mom was invited along so we went to Outback and the food there was scruptious and they even gave us some easter bunny chocolate from England wahoo score!
Monday our last full day together we slept in, laid out by the pool, and went downtown again. We went to the Butterfly Conservatory and the SMP-Southern Most Point "tourist Location" of the continental U.S. and made our way to one of my personal fav restaurants Caroline's Cafe. We shared the dinner so we would have room for the dessert "The Cookie Monster" oh my goodness to die for seriously. It was so good, everyone was starring at us when we got it...they were all way jealous I know haha. Than we went and got souvenirs for everyone back home in the SLC. Followed by some henna tattoos of compasses (that ended up not working stupid!) and went back to the casa.

Tuesday before my mom had to peace out back to the home city and I had to go into work we went to the beach and laid out and took a picture by the compass in my place. The reasoning behind that because we wear these twin compass necklaces all the time and it is to stay close to one another and a suiting farewell gift for me when I was leaving home.

Shout out to the madre: Thanks for everything you do Mom! You are amazing and I am so grateful that I am your daughter. You do so much for me and I loved spending so much time with you here in Key West. Be sure to take care of yourself and know you are always in my heart.

P.S. I get my humor from my mom see what I mean from below hahaha
